EDWIN ROMERO
Edwin Romero is a member of the firm's Labor and Employment and Business Law and Government Law sections of the firm. He concentrates his law practice in local government law, labor law, administrative law, general corporate law, construction law, family law and civil rights defense.Mr. Romero has significant experience in local government, having served as the deputy law director and law director for the City of Youngstown for 14 years. He has negotiated hundreds of labor contracts with employee unions, represented city council members on ordinance challenges, defended police officers in civil rights actions and counseled on economic development matters. Prior to joining Manchester Bennett Powers & Ullman, he was a sole practitioner for 16 years. Mr. Romero graduated from Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1973 and earned a Juris Doctor degree from The Ohio State University in 1977. He is admitted to practice law in Ohio and before the U.S. District Court, the Sixth and Third Circuit Courts of Appeal and the U.S. Supreme Court. Mr. Romero served as president of the Ohio Municipal Attorneys' Association and is a member of the National Municipal Law Officers and the American Arbitration Association. He also is an impartial hearing officer / magistrate for the State Board of Education. Since 1995, Mr. Romero served as general counsel of the Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp.
