DAVID A. DETEC

David A. Detec practices in the firm's Business Law, Health Law, Bankruptcy, Real Estate and Estate Planning and Probate Law sections. Mr. Detec's clients include financial institutions and public and private businesses. He drafts contracts covering business formations and corporate succession plans, handles business relationship disputes, has assisted in the purchase and sale of many businesses and provides general business advice. His experience in federal issues includes basic anti-trust and securities and tax issues.

Mr. Detec graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Philosophy from Youngstown State University in 1976 and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Akron in 1980, ranking second in his graduating class. Mr. Detec is admitted to practice law in Ohio and before the United States District Court of the Northern District of Ohio, the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Tax Court. Mr. Detec practiced with a major Trumbull County law firm prior to joining Manchester Bennett Powers & Ullman in 2000.

A lifelong resident of the Youngstown are, Mr. Detec is involved with several professional and civic organizations. He is a member of the banking and business law section and construction industry forum of the American Bar Association; the Board of Governors of the real estate section and the corporate law and natural resources committees of the Ohio State Bar Association; the Mahoning and Trumbull County Bar Associations; and the health law, bankruptcy and commercial law committees of the Cleveland Bar Association. He is a board member of the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer Services Agency and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Mahoning Valley.

In addition, he is on the advisory committee of the Ohio Division of Securities and a member of the Mahoning-Shenango Valley Estate Planning Council. He is a former board member of Valley Counseling Services. Detec is also the director of the Austintown Division of the Ohio Youth Wrestling League and a certified wrestling referee. He has served as a volunteer coach in local youth baseball, soccer and wrestling programs.

Mr. Detec also is active in his community as a volunteer coach of various youth baseball, soccer and wrestling programs.
